Geometrics is a powerful tool that is used by students and professionals throughout the world! From real estate agents in Australia to construction estimators in Canada!

The app constructs two-dimensional shapes when provided a minimum set of dimensions and then calculates area and perimeter. Shapes can be saved and combined with others to effectively calculate the area of any irregular shape. Geometrics can e-mail a report of the saved shapes and the total area!

Geometrics supports these common two-dimensional shapes:

• Circular: circle, ellipse, segment, sector, ring sector
• Triangles: right, equilateral, isosceles, acute, obtuse
• Quadrilaterals: square, rectangle, trapezoid, parallelogram, rhombus
• Polygons: triangle to icosagon (20-sided)

Circle circumference and area is shown numerically or in terms of π. Special 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles can be constructed with areas and perimeters calculated in terms of √3 or √2. Hexagon perimeter and area is shown numerically or in terms of √3.

Geometrics becomes a powerful productivity tool by managing a group of saved shapes. With a simple tap, the app remembers the shape just solved and then sums the saved shape areas to provide a total area. Saved shapes can be viewed and edited at any time. Each saved shape can be scaled to a fraction of its original area, and even can be subtracted from the total area. These features allow Geometrics to construct any arbitrary shape, including those with a “punch out”.

If there is a need to calculate the area of an irregularly shaped concrete patio with a tree growing in the middle of it, let Geometrics do the hard work. To figure out how much area needs to be covered by mulch in intricate landscaping, Geometrics is up to the task! To know how big of an area will be painted in a great room with complex, vaulted ceilings, look no further than Geometrics to provide the answer.

Once saved shapes are edited and arranged to calculate the proper total area, Geometrics can e-mail a report of the saved shapes and the total area. The e-mail contains a table that makes it easy to copy/paste the data into a spreadsheet program.

Pros and cons of Geometrics app for iPhone and iPad

Geometrics app good for

Wow, cant say how handy Geometrics has been for me as an estimator. I can figure out difficult jobs on the spot and then email a breakdown to my laptop. And when Im calculating back at the office Geometrics lets me forget to take the occasional measurement because it figures area on a lot of shapes with just a few of the numbers you would think you need.

This is the application that I have been looking for. I tried several other applications for geometric formulas. This is the first one that does it all. I am an engineer in a large machine shop. Great for machinists and engineers. Easy to use and covers it all.

Great product. Addition of angle input into triangle solver would be even better.

I bought this primarily to solve segment problems associated with a Quonset building Im assembling. It does the job. However when I purchased it I wasnt aware that its an iPhone app, not an iPad app. If you really wanted to make it shine, add all the shape formulas found in the "Machinery Handbook", and resize it for the iPad .

Some bad moments

I love the idea of this app and its well designed. But a number of the formulas used are incorrect and result in incorrect answers. For example, the calculates the area of a rhombus as simply the side length squared. This would only be true in the specific case of a square. It is not true for other rhombi. It also uses confuses the side and height in parallelograms and trapezoids. The height is the perpendicular altitude distance between the opposite sides. The app uses the same number for the side and the height resulting in incorrect perimeter or area calculations depending on what number was actually entered into the h field. This app has a lot of potential if the mathematical mistakes are fixed.

Cannot exit, no angular entry for triangles. Deleted app so lost that money!
